This paper explores and analyzes the cultural characteristics of the Thai professional nurses in both private and public hospitals. We studied 625 professional and technician nurses who worked in Bangkok by using the seven cultural dimensions recently updated by Hofstedes and colleague (2010). The study aims to enhance the knowledge of an occupation culture: nursing, and to provide exploratory results to prepare the Thai healthcare organizations for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. The findings revealed that, statistically, there was no cultural difference between participants from the public and those from the private sector. We also found that: 1) The average scores of Masculinity Index and Uncertainty Avoidance Index scored moderate to relatively low; 2) The average scores of Individualism Index was moderate and; 3) The average scores of Power Distance Index, Long-Term
