Abstract
The research article “Leadership Development in the Community Organization
Movement towards Thailand 2047: A Case Study of The Community along the Ladprao
Canal” aims to study and develop knowledge and strategy for the development of
leadership groups and people in community along the Ladprao Canal. Ethnographic
Futures Research (EFR) was conducted with two brainstorming sessions of 11 community
leaders from 10 communities. The results showed that these community leaders have
experienced two eras of community evolution, from the slum era of the past to the
current ‘Baanmunkong’ (stable house) era, and dreamed of the 3rd era as a “living museum
on the canal.” The researchers facilitated a process of “creative tension” by having a group
of leaders jointly create a vision of a community along the Ladprao Canal that would be
desirable in the future, and then return together to analyze the current reality. This gived
a glimpse of the “gaps” that communities and community leaders should be improving.
The end result is the issues and systems of current leadership development and the
development of young community leaders.
