The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) recognizes the importance of providing education and knowledge about sustainable development to all students. Therefore, in the academic year 2024, the institute improved and upgraded the basic course for graduate studies (ND4000) to allow regular master’s students to study basic subjects that would be beneficial. This broadened students’ horizons to be up-to-date and suitable for graduate-level studies. It also aimed to provide knowledge and leadership skills in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by adding essential skills and knowledge that the institute prioritizes.
These are four skill sets based on the NIDA’s DNA and Skillset Architecture framework: 1) Digital Literacy, 2) Glocal (Global + Local) Citizenship, 3) Leadership Development, and 4) Sustainable Development. In the teaching and learning of the program, students were taken on field trips to organizations involved in sustainable community development, such as visiting the operations of the “Community Organizations Development Institute.” They also learned from real-world experiences shared by local community organization leaders who came to exchange their experiences in sustainable community development. This was done so that learners could apply the skills and knowledge gained from their studies to drive various activities across all sectors of the country to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in various dimensions, including economic, social, political, ethical, and environmental aspects.
