Asst. Prof. Dr. Dararat Anantanasuwong, Director of the Center for Aging Society Research at NIDA, is actively engaged in international research collaboration as a member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG). The TAG assembles experts to provide scientific, technical, and strategic advice through specialized advisory groups, focusing on specific health issues to enhance the well-being of older adults (aged 60 and over), their families, and communities.
Comprising 20 members from 19 WHO Member States across all WHO Regions, the TAG includes professionals such as geriatricians, epidemiologists, demographers, statisticians, policy analysts, and program implementers. Together, they work to ensure the best research practice for monitoring and evaluating healthy aging, which involve standardizing measures, modes of data collection, data harmonization for comparability, and comprehensive data analysis across all indicators for the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing. Additionally, they offer guidance for decision-making and capacity-building at the country level.
The TAG (Technical Advisory Group) members were selected through an open call for independent experts in monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs, and health and social care services focusing on older people. Representatives of five UN agencies have been nominated by their respective organizations to serve on the steering committee of the TAG.
