How to apply for a Thai visa
STEP 1: Choose your visa type in accordance with your purpose of visit and prepare for required documentSTEP 2: Submit application at the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate General and pay visa processing fee
STEP 3: The application and supporting documents will be checked. In case of the applicant fail to submit all the require documents, the application may be rejected without refunding the visa processing fee
STEP 4: Visa Issuance process (Approve / Reject)
STEP 5: Collect your visa on the appointment date
NOTE: Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Consulate-General in their country of residence or at the designated Thai Embassy/ Consulate-General. Therefore, travellers are advised to contact the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate General to find out if they are eligible to lodge the application. Notice

According to the Immigration Act of Thailand B.E. 2522 (1979), foreigners who fall into any of the following categories are prohibited to enter Thailand:
(1) Having no genuine valid passport or document used in lieu of passport; or having a genuine valid passport or document used in lieu of passport without valid visa issuance by the Royal Thai Embassies, the Royal Thai Consulates-General or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with exception of those who meet visa exemption requirements. The terms and conditions of visa issuance and visa exemption are prescribed by the Ministerial Regulations. 
(2) Having no appropriate means of living following entry into the Kingdom. 
(3) Having entered the Kingdom to be employed as an unskilled or untrained labourer, or to work in violation of the Alien Work Permit Law. 
4) Being mentally unstable or having any of the diseases stated in the Ministerial Regulations. 
5) Having not yet been vaccinated against smallpox; or inoculated, or undergone any other medical treatment for protection against disease; and having refused to have such vaccinations administered by the Immigration Doctor. 
6) Having been imprisoned by judgment of the Thai Court; or by lawful injunction or judgment of the Court of a foreign country, except for when the penalty is for a petty offence, or negligence, or is provided for as an exception by the Ministerial Regulations. 
7) Having behaviour which could cause possible danger to the public; or having the likelihood of being a nuisance or constituting any violence to the peace, safety and security of the public or to the security of the nation; or being under warrant of arrest by competent officials of foreign governments. 
8) Reason to believe that entry into Kingdom is for the purpose of being involved in prostitution, the trafficking of women or children, drug smuggling, or other types of smuggling which are against public morality. 
9) Having no money or bond as prescribed by the Minister under Section 14 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979). 
(10) Being a person prohibited by the Minister under Section 16 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979). 
(11) Being deported by either the Government of Thailand or that of other foreign countries; or having been revoked the right of stay in the Kingdom or in foreign countries; or having been expelled from the Kingdom by competent officials at the expense of the Government of Thailand unless exemption is provided by the Minister on an individual basis.

E-Passport

1. Documents required from a juristic person for the E-Passport application
1.1 The original valid Thai Citizenship I.D. Card, Government Official Identification Card, or an identification card that complies with the rules of the Ministry of Interior. (In case of the Government Official Identification Card, the applicant must bring the House Registration as well).
1.2 If there is any mismatch related to name/ surname or date of birth, etc., which is inconsistent with the original valid Thai Citizenship I.D. Card, other relevant official documents such as Change of Name or Surname Certificate, have to be also presented.
1.3 E-Passport fee (Normal)
     – 5 years : 1,000 Baht
     – 10 years : 1,500 Baht
1.4 E-Passport fee (Urgent)
     – 5 years : 3,000 Baht
     – 10 years: 3,500 Baht
2. Steps of reapplication for a new passport
2.1 Take a queue number
2.2 Present the valid Thai Citizenship I.D. Card with 113-digit Personal Number to the Office’s receptionist. If there is no 13-digit Personal Number, the applicant must bring the House Registration together with other necessary official documents such as certificate of personal name change, marriage registration, etc. for document authentication.
2.3 Capture the application’s biometric data, e.g. height, both left and right finger prints using a scanner, and facial features.
2.4 Apply for a postage service, if desired.
3. Pay for application fee
3.1 Applicants presenting their application at the Department of Consular Affairs can pick up their E-Passport 2 working days after the application date. If applying for postage service, it will take 5 working days for the passport to be express-mailed to them through EMS.
3.2 If presenting their application at Temporary Passport Offices in Bangkok (Pinklao and Bangna), applicants can pick up their E-Passport 2 working days after the application date. If applying for postage service, it will take 5 working days for the E-Passport being express-mailed to them through EMS.
3.3 Applicants who submit their application at the Temporary Passport Office in provinces and request for postage service will receive their E-Passport within 5 working dys.

Work Permit

How to apply for a work permit
The following documents are required:

1. Valid passport, certificate of permanent residence or alien certificate (original and copy); and for passport holders, a photocopy of the following passport pages:
a. First two pages with photo and personal details
b. Pages containing visa and entry stamp.
2. Letter of employment from the concerned department describing the reasons for employment, and organization chart of the workplace, and a list of current alien workers.
3. Documentary evidence of educational qualifications, or CV/resume.
4. Medical certificate not more than six months old.
5. Employment certificate form.
6. Official cover page.
7. Three passport photographs taken within the last six months.
8. Copy of the Agreement for Employment of an Alien.
9. Completed Form WP 2.
10. Completed Form WP 10.
11. Completed Power of Attorney form affixed with a 10 baht duty-stamp along with a copy of the designee’s identification card.

How to extend a work permit
The following documents are required:

1. Valid passport, certificate of permanent residence or alien certificate (original and copy); and for passport holders, a photocopy of the following pass pages:
a. First two pages with photo and personal details
b. Pages containing visa and entry stamp.
2. Completed Form WP. 5 and Work Permit with a copy.
3 Completed Power of Attorney form affixed with a 1—Baht duty stamp along with a copy of the designee’s identification card.
4. Letter of employment from the concerned department describing the reasons for employment, an organization chart of the workplace, and a list of current foreign workers.

Health Insurance for International Students

At NIDA, we offer health insurance guidance for international students in partnership with Allianz Ayudhya Insurance Company. Participation in this insurance program is optional for NIDA students. If you wish to enroll, please contact your program coordinator.

Advising Procedure:

  1. Contacting: Students should first reach out to their program coordinator at their respective school or contact the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
  2. Submitting: To apply, students must complete the application form, provide a copy of their passport, and pay the insurance premium (please note that the fee is updated annually) to the OIA.
  3. Approving: The OIA will forward the submitted documents to the Vice President for Academic and International Affairs for review and approval.
  4. Processing: Once approved, the OIA will send the application forms and a list of enrolled students to the Allianz Ayudhya coordinator for processing.
  5. Issuing: Allianz Ayudhya will provide the NIDA insurance card, an insurance booklet, and a premium invoice.
  6. Paying: The OIA will process the payment for the insurance premium directly to Allianz Ayudhya.
  7. Collecting: Finally, the OIA will contact students to arrange the collection of their insurance card and booklet.

To complete your application, please prepare the following documents:

  1. Completed Application: Fill out the health insurance application form.
  2. Passport Copy: Provide a copy of the page in your passport that contains your personal information.
  3. Student ID Card: Include your student ID card, if applicable.
  4. Insurance Fee Payment: Submit payment for the insurance fee.
  5. Insurance Policy Copy: Provide a copy of your insurance policy.
