NIDA Participates in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 and Explores Academic Collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain

            On 5 November 2025, Professor Dr. Tippawan Lorsuwannarat, President of NIDA; Associate Professor Dr. Sarawut Jansuwan, Vice President for Administration and Digital Technology; Assistant Professor Dr. Akkaranan Pongstornvivat, Director of the Office of Information and Digital Technology; and Assistant Professor Dr. Tanasai Sukonpan, Director of the Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) Program, School of Applied Statistics, attended the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, the world’s largest conference and exhibition on smart city innovation.

            The event is held annually at Fira de Barcelona, Gran Vía, Barcelona, Spain, with the aim of showcasing cutting-edge urban development innovations, providing a platform to learn from international scholars and experts in urban development, and fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among public and private organizations worldwide.

            On this occasion, the NIDA delegation met and held discussions with experts from Dassault Systèmes, a company renowned for its expertise in digital modeling for multi-dimensional urban planning and management, particularly in flood management and prevention. Both parties exchanged views and explored approaches for applying these technologies to the research and mission of NIDA’s Smart Compact City Center, as well as for fostering collaboration with agencies involved in disaster management in Thailand in the future.

            On the same day, Professor Dr. Tippawan Lorsuwannarat and the NIDA delegation also met with the Office of International – Institutional Relations at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), which is ranked 172nd in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The parties exchanged views and discussed opportunities to further develop academic collaboration at both student and faculty levels between UAB and NIDA in the future.
