From December 9th to 11th, 2023, a delegation led by Professor Dr. Tippawan Lorsuwannarat visited UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in response to an invitation from Professor Dato’ Dr. Toh Kian Kok – Group Business Development Advisor and UCSI University Pro-Vice-Chancellor. The delegation included Associate Professor Dr. Sombat Kusumavalee – Vice President for Academic and International Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Pattrawut Charoenroop – Assistant to the President for International Affairs; and Assistant Professor Dr. Suvicha Pouaree – Director of NIDA Poll Center. The purpose of this visit was to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange in the fields of educational and research management and development. Throughout the productive discussions with UCSI University, the delegation covered several significant topics.
Initially, the potential for research collaboration between the institutions was deliberated upon, with the aim of enriching the overall knowledge base. Additionally, the exploration of disseminating survey results on an international level through ongoing academic research was pursued, thereby generating valuable contributions to the global academic community.
Moreover, the delegation expressed keen interest in facilitating student exchanges between NIDA’s graduate schools and UCSI University’s relevant postgraduate programs. It is worth mentioning that UCSI University’s Hospitality and Leisure Management program achieved an impressive ranking of 34th in the QS World University Ranking by Subject, thereby adding further value to potential collaborative efforts in this area. Furthermore, both parties discussed the possibility of internships for students with UCSI Group’s businesses, as a means of providing practical experience and fostering connections within the industry. Additionally, great emphasis was placed on the continued development of the QS World University Rankings on an international scale.
The consistent standing of UCSI University among the top 300 universities globally for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, serves as a testament to its exceptional position among private universities in Asia.
This accomplishment was also validated through their receipt of the prestigious “QS Recognition for Improvement” award in 2022. Acknowledging the significance of international research collaboration, the delegation also engaged with Emeritus Professor Dr. Phang Siew Moi, who holds the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Postgraduate Studies. The objective was to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, with the ultimate goal of cultivating and enhancing the quality of research. These collaborative endeavors ensure the continuous nurturing of a talented pool of researchers and academics, thereby guaranteeing a promising future for academic collaboration.
