Official Visit by Professor QIAN Xuhong, Ph.D., President of East China Normal University (ECNU), the People’s Republic of China, along with a delegation from ECNU and representatives from CAS Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok)

            On May 29, 2024, representatives from NIDA, including Associate Professor Juree Vichit-Vadakan, Ph.D., Chairperson of NIDA Council; Professor Tippawan Lorsuwannarat, Ph.D., President of NIDA; Associate Professor Sombat Kusumavalee, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic and International Affairs; Associate Professor Chandra-nuj Mahakanjana, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Student and Alumni Relations; Associate Professor Li Renliang, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Graduate School of Social Development and Management Strategy; Siwiga Dusadenoad, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School of Applied Statistics; Assistant Professor Sarawut Jansuwan, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs; Assistant Professor Ekarat Rattagan, Ph.D., Director of the Master of Science Program in Data Analytics and Data Science; Thanachart Ritbumroong, Ph.D., Director of the Master of Science Program in Management of Analytics and Data Technologies; Ms. Nipa Chumsuk, Director of the International Relations and Corporate Communication Division; Ms. Duangratchanee Tengsakul, Head of the Research Promotion Strategy; and Ms. Ilham Denyingyoch, General Administration Officer of the Research Bureau, as well as other OIA staff, warmly welcomed the delegates from ECNU, including Professor Qian Xuhong, Ph.D., President; Professor Gao Enxin, Ph.D., Deputy Dean of the School of Public Management; Mr. Li Yanlei, Deputy Director of the University Office; and Ms. Meng Yu, Executive of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division. The CAS-ICCB delegation was led by Professor Jiang Biao, Ph.D., Chief Science Scientist; Orrasa Rattana-amornpirom, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer; and Ms. Pitchayapat Sonchaeng, Project Specialist, at the Inthraphuvasak Hall, 8th Floor of the Prince Naradhip Bongsprabandha Building.

            The main focus of the meeting was to enhance academic collaboration, specifically in Artificial Intelligence Technology, as part of the Tech Series: Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiative in education. Discussions also touched upon the upcoming 3rd NIC NIDA Conference 2024, a joint effort between ECNU and NIDA, and the 1st International Sustainable Development Debate (Thailand-China) to commemorate NIDA’s 58th anniversary. Assistant Professor Pattrawut Charoenroop, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs, provided an overview of the latter event through a recorded video presentation.

            As part of the visit, the ECNU and CAS-ICCB delegations were given a tour of the NIDA Smart Compact City Center (NIDA S2C°), where Assistant Professor Sarawut Chansuwan, Ph.D., Director of NIDA Smart Compact City Center, explained the center’s role in driving the “NIDA Smart City” initiative to foster sustainable development at both organizational and community levels. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Sukum Navaphan Library during their visit.
