On 27 January 2026, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), a leading research institute in artificial intelligence under the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Kingdom of Spain. The ceremony was conducted in a hybrid format. The NIDA delegation was led by Professor Tippawan Lorsuwannarat, Ph.D., President of NIDA, together with NIDA executives, faculty members, and representatives from the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
The IIIA-CSIC delegation was led by Professor Carles Sierra, Ph.D., Director of IIIA-CSIC, and Professor Felip Manyà, Ph.D., Deputy Director of IIIA-CSIC. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening international research and academic cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. On this occasion, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to further nurturing their relationship and expanding cooperation through new initiatives aimed at achieving long-term, mutually beneficial outcomes with positive and sustainable impacts on society.
The MoU reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting knowledge exchange and developing practical solutions to address emerging challenges in contemporary society and the global landscape. Moreover, the collaboration contributes to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals) and aligns with the strategic directions of both Thailand and NIDA in strengthening global research networks.
