NIDA Strengthens AI Collaboration with IIIA-CSIC in Barcelona, Spain

NIDA Visits Barcelona, Spain, to Strengthen Collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC) and Advance Education and AI Research toward Internationalization

            On November 3, 2025, Professor Tippawan Lorsuwannarat, Ph.D., President of NIDA, was joined by Associate Professor Sarawut Jansuwan, Ph.D., Vice President for Administration and Digital Technology; Assistant Professor Akkaranan Pongsathornwiwat, Ph.D., Director of the Information and Digital Technology Center; and Assistant Professor Tanasai Sucontphunt, Ph.D., from the Graduate School of Applied Statistics, on a visit to the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. IIIA-CSIC, under the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, is one of Spain’s leading research institutes specializing in artificial intelligence.

            The NIDA delegation was welcomed by Professor Felip Manyà, Deputy Director of IIIA-CSIC, along with the institute’s research team. The meeting focused on exploring future cooperation in several key areas: applying AI to improve teaching and learning, sharing research knowledge and expertise, and co-developing joint research projects, particularly in AI for Health Technology and AI in Education. Through this partnership, NIDA aims to strengthen its international academic network and support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

            The collaboration reflects NIDA’s commitment to advancing AI research and innovation that positively impacts education, technology, and society.
