Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to study the relationship between age range and factors affecting the working motivation of hotel employees, 2) to compare the level of opinion towards factors affecting organizational engagement and background of the employees, 3) to study the association between motivator factors and hygiene factors and employee’s engagement, and 4) to study the influence of motivation, compensation and benefits, and employee’s engagement. The sample size was calculated by using Yamane’s formula and consisted of 300 hotel employees who obtained by proportional sampling technique. The research instruments were questionnaire on general information, compensation, benefits and rewards, and factors affecting employee engagement. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, t-test, and F-test, One-way ANOVA using LSD, Pearson’s product moment was used to analyze correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis was applied. The research results were as follow; Age correlated with motivational factors that contribute to organizational commitment in job’s achievement and acceptance categories at the. 05 level of significance. Hotel staff with different departments had statistically different levels of attitudes on motivator factors and hygiene factors affecting organizational commitment, the difference was significant at. 05 level. Motivator factors and hygiene factors correlated with employee engagement. The statistical significance was positively correlated at. 01, in moderate level Motivator factors and hygiene factors were able to predict the employee engagement (47.8%). the statistic significant was at. 05. The predictable variables were motivation factor; responsibility and promotion, and hygiene factors; benefits and rewards, staff’s relationship, supervision, and career status.
