Abstract

Thailand’s higher education is greatly facing challenges from both inside and outside the institutions.Governance is a key policy issue raised today as the need for Institutions to continually improveand ensure that their governing model meet those challenges in higher education. Governancestructure in higher education was discussed and emphasized how important it is for increasinghigher education’s efficiency and effectiveness. This study has main objective to address whetherThailand’s higher education quality assurance guidelines could ensure good governancein highereducation management.The results of the study showed that higher education in Thailand have arranged governance structure according to rules and regulations presently applying to the institu-tions. However, such structure was not ensured that society’s expectations toward the universitieshave been responded. The University Board and Management’s perceptionson the governanceissues have been framed only within the legal framework.
