The field of human resource development (HRD) has been focusing on work-based development. However, life-based development could benefit the results of HRD too. Leisure is one of social science that can provide opportunities to promote and collaborate with HRD in expanding the capabilities of HRD disciplines in both research and practice. This research aims to study the relationship between mechanisms and results of serious leisure, which is a type of leisure that could lead to personal and group development, with development of a growth mindset of for working-age people in Bangkok. Data collection was done through online platform, yielding 414 responses. The results showed that (1) the mechanisms of serious leisure related to development of growth mindset at 0.495, and (2) result of serious leisure related to development of growth mindset at 0.535 at significant level at 0.01. As this research uses quantitative method, future research could consider qualitative research in this area to explore further about serious leisure and HRD. This research can lead to the development and design of HRD mechanisms, policies, or systems to allow HRD to broaden its horizon.
