The objectives of this research were to: 1) explore communication strategy of the admins who managed depression-related online community; and 2) investigate the content concerning resilience, trust, and social attachment from the members of depression-related online community. Samples were Facebook users in three different community groups. The research methodology includes in-depth interview with the admins, examining their communication strategies, and content analysis on resilience, trust, and social attachment which the users in depression-related online community posted. The findings showed the three communication strategies that the admins used were as follows: 1) Communication patterns: members were allowed to participate in the discussion, being both the audiences and the sources 2) Messages structures: main ideas and bullet points were essential components of the message, with concern to its rationalization 3) Communication techniques: establish or maintain relationships with the members while engaging them with controversial social issues. Positive life quotes and inspirational words were most frequently found within depression-related online community. This indicated that the members expressed themselves, mostly trust, through self-disclosure messages. Resilience was revealed by using what-I-am messages, in contrast, traits of being a hopeful, faithful, self-confident, and emotional-engaged person were told from emotional-attached messages. The results also provided useful information–effective communication strategy, guideline, and content planning–for social media admins and individuals who want to communicate in depression-related online communities. Presenting the information based on what they need, it will help the depressed users cope well with depression and recover from it eventually.
